About HAULAWNG SECTION
HISTORY OF HAULAWNG SECTION FORMATION
Haulawng Section (Bial) is among the earliest established sections following the inception of the United Pentecostal Church in Lunglei District. Even prior to the formal formation of Lunglei District, Haulawng Section was already functioning. Its history traces back to Resolution No. 6 of the Joint Circle Conference of North and South held in Thangte village on September 30, 1961, requesting the addition of four General Pastors. On May 25, 1962, the General District Board conducted interviews and, due to financial constraints, appointed two Pastors for the South: Evan. Hrangtlinga (Herhse) and Evan. Hrangchhina (Chawngtui).
Under Resolution No. 7, the General District Board designated newly appointed Pastor Hrangtlinga of Herhse village to oversee the newly created Haulawng Section, with Resolution No. 8 assigning his official tenure starting June 1962.

SECTION BOUNDARIES AND PASTOR QUARTERS
Original Jurisdiction / Boundaries :
Under Resolution No. 9 of the General District Board meeting on September 25, 1962, the boundaries for Haulawng Section (then known as Hrangtlinga's Section) were outlined based on central geography and post office accessibility to include: Pukpui, Ralvawng, Chengpui, Valcheng, Hnahchang, Hruipui, Hmuntlang, extending from Haulawng to the Northern district border. The eastern boundary was to be mutually agreed upon with Pastor Lalthima.
Pastor Quarters History :
Despite its longevity, the section did not initially possess an official Pastor Quarters. This was primarily because the pioneer pastor, Pastor Hrangchhina, built his own private residence from which he conducted his ministerial duties.
- 1st Quarters : When Rev. Hrangchhina was reassigned, the need for an official quarter became urgent. Land was acquired in Hmuntlang ward from Pu Liankhuma. Under the leadership of Pastor PR. Dawla, an Assam-type quarters was constructed, which was first occupied by Rev. Rodawla and his family.
- 2nd Quarters : Seeking a more central location near larger church membership, the section relocated the quarters to its present site (formerly known as Pi Chhuahi's rice distribution center). The quarters building has been reconstructed a total of four times to date.
Sections Formed from Haulawng Section : Over time, Chhipphir Section, Sertlangpui Section, and Thenhlum Section were created out of the original Haulawng Section territory.
