About MUALLIANPUI LOCAL

Muallianpui village :

Muallianpui village is located within Hnahthial District. It is situated about 18 Km northeast of S. Vanlaiphai village, and is a fairly old village. Currently, about 190 households and around 1,500 people reside in Muallianpui village.

How the UPC Church was born :

In the past, everyone belonged to the Baptist Church. During the insurgency grouping, they were grouped at S. Vanlaiphai. After the insurgency subsided a bit, when the Government issued permission to return to their respective villages, about 20 households of Muallianpui village returned to their village in 1972. During Christmas of 1972 upon returning to their village, they held praise gatherings at the home of Pu Lengkiauva; they enjoyed singing very much, and this singing fellowship extended nearly through the entire month of January the following year, filled with praise services.

During this joy, the host of the singing gathering, Pu S. Lengkiauva, felt the message of Baptism heavily upon his heart. He spoke to their Pastor and Church elders, but they stated that they could not administer Baptism in the name of Jesus. Around this time, a UPC worker, Sist. Khualdailovi of Serchhip village, was ministering in Thingsai village; they attended her services and also invited her to minister in Muallianpui. She then conducted ministry in Muallianpui, and under her ministry, on 4.2.1973, a baptismal service was opened where Pu S. Lengkiauva became the first to receive it, with about 10 people in total at that time. Through this baptismal ministry, Pi Zaiiangi, wife of Pu Cheuchina, who suffered from enlarged liver and blindness and was carried down on the way there, was instantly healed and was able to walk back on her own two feet.

After receiving baptism, they did not join the UPC immediately; however, after receiving baptism in the name of Jesus, the Baptist Church would no longer accept them into their church, leaving them in a limbo for some time.

As time passed further, on 28.5.1978, the UPC was officially established in Muallianpui. The first church leaders were :

  • Chairman : Upa. Bualianga
  • Secretary : Upa. S .Lengkiauva
  • Trasurer : Upa. Cheuchina

There were about 17 members. They had not established any Department yet.
