In April 1960, UPC Vanhne Church was established. The steps taken to establish the church were: As there were several UPC members residing in Vanhne village, they felt a strong need to form a church, and thus began establishing it in 1960, with the construction of the church building starting immediately in 1961. Vanhne village is located about 10 km from Lunglei. The first individuals in the church to receive baptism were Sangkunga and Kapliana.

Church Leaders :

Lianhranga, Vankunga, Ngurzika, Hrangkhuma, and Rothianga. At the time of establishment, the church instantly reached around 150 members.

Church Building History and Successive Reconstructions :

Counting from its inception including the current building in use, the church building has been constructed seven (7) times.

• First : In 1961, the Church Committee resolved to have a church building, and construction commenced.
• Second : Rebuilt in 1966.
• Third : In 1969, as the church site was relocated, it was reconstructed anew.
• Fourth : In 1974, due to the orientation of the building being unsatisfactory, it was rebuilt again.
• Fifth : In 1981, as the church was relocated once again, it was rebuilt.
• Sixth : In 1998, as the congregation could no longer fit inside, it was rebuilt again.
• Seventh : On August 14, 2011, it was reconstructed as an RCC Building, which is the current building in use. On this occasion, District Secretary Rev. C. Vanlalena laid the foundation stone.

Notable Events in the Church :

1. Silver Jubilee and Golden Jubilee were grandly celebrated, through which several new church members were brought in as a result of the Jubilee celebrations.
2. We have one Missionary from among the church members, Pastor C. Lallianbuanga, who is currently serving at the North Bengal and Sikkim Mission Field in Jaigaon.

Current Status :
