About THINGSAI BIAL
First Formation of the Section:
At the 1975 District Conference of the United Pentecostal Church, Lunglei District, a resolution was passed stating, 'Additional Sections should be opened.' In accordance with this, in April 1976, 'Thingsai Section' was created out of the Hnahthial Section with Thingsai as its Center. The first Section Pastor was Pastor PC. Lunghnema. As time went on, 8 years after its establishment, in 1983, the Section Center was shifted to Cherhlun, and along with this move, it was renamed 'Cherhlun Section'.
Second Formation of the Section:
As time progressed, after remaining as Cherhlun Section for a long period of 16 years, the 1999 District Conference passed a resolution: 'Cherhlun Section shall be divided into two, and Thingsai Section shall be opened.' Thus, with Thingsai as its Center, 'Thingsai Section' was officially re-established. On May 1st, 1999, the new Thingsai Section was inaugurated by Rev. H. Chalchhunga, District Superintendent. The celebration was marked by a grand feast with the slaughtering of cattle, pigs, and poultry. On this day, the first Pastor of the new Section, Rev. T. Aichhunga, officially took charge.
Section Pastor Quarters:
For the Section Pastor's Quarters, an Assam-type house belonging to Pu Zachhawna (wooden floor and eastern wall, half-tiled wall, and CGI roof) was purchased on Wednesday, July 14th, 1999, for Rs. 50,000/- (Fifty thousand). Pastor Aichhunga and his family moved in on July 6th, 1999. On July 14th, 1999, the Section slaughtered a male pig worth Rs. 3,800/- to hold a feast celebrating the acquisition of the Quarters.
Reconstruction of the Quarters:
Since the Quarters was a renovated older structure, reconstruction became necessary, which was approved by the Section Council. Subsequently, during the tenure of Pastor C. Vanlalena as the Section Pastor, foundation digging commenced on June 15th, 2009. On June 22nd, 2009, under the leadership of District Superintendent Rev. R. Lalrosanga, the pillars were erected following a group prayer of dedication. The construction was completed and made ready for occupation in 2010.
Local Churches within the Section:
The local churches encompassed within the Thingsai Section are Thingsai, H. Bualpui, and Tarpho local churches. Although Aithur village was mapped under Thingsai Section, no church has been established there as of now. Presently, there are 3 local churches across the entire Section, with approximately 425 total members.
