ORIGIN :

UPC Lunglei District Conference 46th Dt.28.2.2011 Resolution no 14 passed that Visual Media should be established, as per District Board 162nd resolution no 17 it was established and named UPC Media Visual Cell (UMVIC), and the following office bearers were appointed: Chairman : Pastor C.Vanlalena Secretary : Evan.F.Lalhmangaiha Treasurer : Rev.Ralkapkunga Khiangte Technician : Upa Lalduhthlanga Members : 1. Rev.C.Lalrintluanga 2. Evan. Jerry Lalmuanawma General Media Cell Resolution no 2 stated that all District Media Cells should have a uniform name, so from 2014 UMVIC was renamed to Pentecostal Network (Pennet) Lunglei.

WORKERS :

At the start of UMVIC, there were no permanent staff, and Committee members carried out the assigned tasks. After over a year, Evan. Jerry Lalmuanawma of College Veng served as Editor from April 1, 2012 to March 2015. Since Evan. Jerry Lalmuanawma was appointed as Pastor, Bro. K. Lalrintluanga of Luangmual continued as Editor from April 16, 2015. On April 1, 2017, Evan. Remruatpuia Fanai was appointed as MR Technician, and from February 16, 2025, Bro. C. Lalduhawma was engaged as Casual Worker, making 2 workers at present. To assist and strengthen the workers, Cameramen were appointed; Bro. K. Lalhmunmawia and Bro. A. Lalchhuanawma served as Cameramen for a long time, and Bro. MC. Lalvenhima was added from 2015. After 2018, besides the 2 workers, Bro. TC. Lalramchhanmawia, Bro. Thomas K. Lalrinliana, and Bro. A. Laldinthara were called as Cameramen when needed, and their dedicated support made it possible to produce neat and beautiful photos/videos.

ACTIVITIES :

The first Committee meeting was held on March 25, 2011, and active steps were taken to spread Lunglei District news to various places. Required equipment and necessary items were purchased as needed. The various activities include:

NEWS SERVICE :

NEWSPAPER : UMVIC 5th Committee meeting in 2012 decided to publish a Weekly Newspaper named ‘Pentecostal Weekly’. After being published smoothly until 2014, the 11th Pennet Committee in Feb 2015 changed it to Bi-Monthly, and Resolution No. 2 renamed it to ‘Thuhriltu’, which is used till today. Currently, 1,675 copies are published and sent to over 90 Locals. District news/updates are distributed as quickly as possible to Cable TV, Radio, and Makedonia for broadcast. Every week, District news is sent to the General Pennet Co-ordinator. For sharing church news, a Facebook group named Pentecostal Network Lunglei was created, where Lunglei District News is posted first, followed by various WhatsApp groups.

VIDEO SERVICE :

TV PROGRAMME : Full effort was made to display UPC Lunglei District activities and important programs through Television (TV). On December 22, 2014, an agreement was made with Lunglei Cable Operators (LDF and JB) to broadcast a 1-hour video programme. It was inaugurated on Jan 22, 2015 by Rev. C. Darkhuma, and broadcast started from Feb 1, 2015, running until 2018. As the 1-Hour Video Programme was insufficient, steps were taken to obtain a 24-Hour Channel. In 2017, Upa PC. Lalduhthlanga worked hard to secure a channel on LDF Cable Network. On March 3, 2018 during the 53rd UPC Lunglei District Conference at HQ Church, District Superintendent Rev. R. Lalrosanga inaugurated this 24-Hour Channel. When Zonet JB started operating in Lunglei, efforts were made to get a 24-hour channel there as well, and it was inaugurated on February 16, 2021 by District Superintendent Rev. C. Vanlalena. With advancing technology, TV Programmes lost viewership. The Pennet Board consulted the District Board regarding shutting down these 24-hour channels on LDF and Zonet JB, and the 216th District Board on March 3-4, 2025 decided to discontinue the 24-hour video programmes. Pennet Lunglei captures photos and videos for District-wide events, Bial, Local events, and invited functions, providing Live streaming when required using our equipment. The Data Video Switcher HS 1300 used for Live coverage was purchased on October 1, 2021, and dedicated in prayer by then Pennet Chairman Rev. PC. Lalfakawma.

OTHER SERVICE :

1. YOUTUBE CHANNEL : With increasing Youtube usage worldwide, Pennet Lunglei created a Youtube channel in February 2019. It received great appreciation, with rapid subscriber growth, and the song ‘Tuinung Lui’ sung by Sailo Lalsangzuala reached over 1 Million Views. Various church activities were uploaded; however, in 2023, the channel was compromised by unknown persons. Despite the workers' dedicated recovery efforts, it could not be recovered, so a new channel was created. 2. PENNET LUNGLEI PHOTO GALLERY : To easily share photos taken by Pennet Lunglei across various places, a Photo Gallery was set up on Facebook, which gained high appreciation and many followers.
