About IMMANUEL LOCAL
Immanuel Local is located within the Zobawk District. Situated in Zobawk North village, a church building was previously constructed in Zobawk North (also often referred to as the lower village area / Vengthlang) between 1993 and 1997 through the initiative of Zobawk Local. However, before it could be occupied, it was destroyed by strong winds and had to be dismantled. In 2002, during the tenure of Rev. Zalawma (L) as District Superintendent, he proposed rebuilding a church in the lower village area. The reason for this was that Zobawk is a large village stretching across a long distance, making it difficult for members living far away to attend a single central church, which led to losing many church members residing in the lower village area over time.
During the 3rd Zobawk Local Church Board Committee meeting held on March 17, 2002, under the leadership of the Pastorate Minister Rev. P. Rodawla (L), steps to move forward were resolved, and implementation began within the same year. On Sunday, February 1, 2004, pursuant to Resolution No. 3 of the 2nd Zobawk Local Church Board Committee, Rev. Ralkapkunga Khiangte, District Treasurer, officially inaugurated the new Local church. On the following Monday, a grand feast was held featuring beef, pork, chicken, and fish. On May 11, 2004, the church floor was cemented.
During the 3rd Zobawk Local Church Board Committee meeting (Resolution No. 1) held on January 31, 2004, leaders for the new Local were appointed under the leadership of Rev. P.R. Dawla (L), Pastorate Minister, as follows:
| Chairman | : | Elder C. Lianchhunga |
| Secretary | : | Deacon V. Darhuama |
| Treasurer | : | Elder H. Zokima |
| Tithe Treasurer | : | Deacon H. Pahlira (L) |
| Church Elders | : |
1. Elder C. Lianchhunga (Existing Elder from Zobawk Local) 2. Elder H. Zokima (Existing Elder from Zobawk Local) 3. Elder C. Vanlaldika |
It was recorded that remaining functional roles would be formed/appointed conjointly with the newly appointed leaders under the leadership of the Pastorate Minister. On February 15, 2004, the 1st and inaugural Emmanuel Local Church Board Committee meeting was convened, during which 8 local church workers and Church Board Members were appointed, along with leaders for two departments: the Ladies Auxiliary Department (LAD) and the Missions Department. On the evening of February 15, 2004, additional department appointments were made, selecting leaders and teachers for the Pentecostal Youth Department (PYD), Pentecostal Children Department (PCD), and the Sunday School Department.
With the church building opened and church leaders duly appointed, separate worship services began on the evening of Saturday, February 14, 2004, pursuant to Resolution 1 of the 4th Zobawk Local Church Board Committee. On the morning of Sunday, February 15, 2004, a farewell program was held at the church where everyone worshiped together one last time, marking the official day of separation into independent local churches. Upon establishing the new local church in lower Zobawk, it was initially referred to simply as "Vengthlang Local". However, since a larger portion of members attended from the upper areas (Venglai and Vengthar), the Church Board deliberated on an official name. The draft name proposed by the then Local Secretary, Deacon V. Darthuama—'IMMANUEL LOCAL'—was unanimously approved and dedicated to God as the official Local name during the 3rd Church Board Committee meeting (Resolution 3) on February 29, 2004.

STATUS OF MEMBERS AND CHURCH BUILDING :
From the inception of Immanuel Local, member numbers in Zobawk North were not particularly high, and defining fixed geographical boundaries was impractical. Therefore, several key office bearers and families from Zobawk Local were requested and invited to support and join Immanuel Local. At the time of separation, there were 87 members, which grew to 104 by the end of that first year. In 2005, membership reached 111, and by 2006, it grew to 137. On July 15, 2007, there were 120 members. As time went on, alongside growth, some members eventually returned to Zobawk Local. As of the time of writing (May 6, 2025), there are 60 members, with the decline primarily attributed to members re-joining Zobawk Local, relocations, and deaths. Immanuel Local has produced outstanding workers, capable section leaders, and as many as three license holders. Stepping forward continuously in ministry, although it may not match everything larger churches or locals can achieve, it consistently strives its best to fulfill financial targets and offerings assigned by the District and Section. True to its name, even with few members, we continue to experience God's presence to this day.
When the Local was first established, the church was built as an Assam-type structure with tile walls, a corrugated iron sheet roof, and a cemented floor, which was occupied for several years. Through the initiatives of the Building Department, construction of a new church building was undertaken, supported by a financial assistance of Rs. 2,00,000 from the District. On October 24, 2021, the new church building was officially occupied.
