About ZAWLPUI LOCAL
Zawlpui village is situated along the P.B. Road ridge, making it one of the largest and most important villages along this ridge. In 1998, the family of Pu Lalpuia migrated here from Khawmawi. They were already members of the UPC from Khawmawi. Having no fellow believers to worship with, they lived by themselves as a single household for some time. Later on, the Government established a Police Outpost at Zawlpui, posting the 2nd Battalion MAP there. Among the 2nd Battalion MAP personnel, church workers Bro. Lalnuntluanga and Bro. Zoramthlira from Luangmual were also posted to Zawlpui. They served wholeheartedly and strived to establish a church. In January 2001, Bro. Lalhmangaiha Sailo (Venghlun) and Bro. Zothana (Venghlun) also joined the ministry. The Lord blessed their dedicated service, and on March 12, 2001, 'Zawlpui Local UPC' was officially established.
As Zawlpui was within the Thenhlum Pastorate, Pastor Rev. PC Nghakliana, the Pastorate Minister of Thenhlum, organized the church, and the first leaders appointed were as follows:
| Chairman | : | Elder J. Hrangkapa |
| Secretary | : | Deacon Noliankiauva |
| Treasurer | : | Deacon Lalpuia |
| Treasurer PRZ | : | Deacon J. Lalkunga |
When the church was established, there were 16 members in total. Since some of the church members were government employees transferred from other places, the membership fluctuated over time, sometimes increasing and sometimes decreasing slightly. At present, the membership has reached 25.
Church Building Construction :
In 2002, a team of 8 people led by District Superintendent Rev. Zalawma travelled down from Lunglei to hold a Work Camp and construct a church building. Within one week, they completed the church building so it was ready for use. The church building was constructed measuring 30 ft in length and 18 ft in width. The tin roofing was sponsored by the District Church, and the land was also purchased by the District. Later on, construction of the current church building began in 2015, measuring 36/24 feet in length and width. The Field Evangelists who served when it was opened as a Field were: Evan. Andrew Lalremsanga Sailo, Evan R. Lalsangzuala, and Evan Zoramchhana Sailo. Subsequently, it became the headquarters of the Pastorate.
Current Status :
Currently, there are 53 church members (2025).
