Thualthu is located approximately 30 km south of Lunglei. While the UPC was being established in surrounding villages, it seemed to bypass Thualthu as if flying over it. Rev. Laltluanga, Rev. Chuauruma, and Rev. Darawia, along with several followers, conducted ministry here. Afterwards, under Rev. Darawia, Pu Zachhuma, Pu Ngunirha, Pu Saisiama, and his wife received baptism at Zului. On March 15, 1968, Rev. Chuauruma established the Church. The initial leaders were:

They used to hold worship services at the home of Upa B. Zachhuma, numbering around 15 people. Upa B. Zachhuma was an active Baptist preacher who joined the UPC. Then, on January 9, 1969, due to political disturbance/insurgency, the village was grouped/resettled. Pu Saisiama did not join them here, so Pu Ngunirha became the Church Secretary. Attending the Herhse UPC Church in Tawipui, Pu Zachhuma and Pu Ngunirha immediately served as lay preachers. In 1971, returning to Thualthu, they maintained the Church by celebrating Christmas and New Year in abandoned jhum lands (chul pawl). In January 1970, upon reoccupying the main village site, under the leadership of Church Chairman Upa Zachhuma and Secretary/Treasurer Upa Ngunirha, the first church building was constructed using bamboo. On April 8, 1972, Rev. Chuauruma inaugurated it. On April 10, 1972, the Church was officially formed, and simultaneously, the LAD (Ladies Auxiliary Department) and PYD (Pentecostal Youth Department) were also formed.

Gathering together without high educational backgrounds, they faced various minor internal and external difficulties. They were not held in high regard, and at times were not even permitted to use public water sources for baptisms. The local community presented peculiar challenges in various ways, but the Lord worked alongside them, and His Kingdom continued to advance. In 2025, we are 158 members.

From the time of the church's establishment, they immediately labored to construct a church building. Before 1995, it was built five times. Between 1995 and 2025, it was built three times, making a total of eight constructions.

Church Initiatives / Progress :

In Thualthu Local, there are currently 156 members (as per the 2025 report). Construction of the church building began in 2012, when Rev. VL. Hmuaka, the District Pastor (2012), laid the foundation stone. The dimensions of the church building are 60 by 31 feet. Plans have been made to hold the church inauguration in March 2025. In Thualthu Local, there are currently 4 Elders (Upa), 4 Ministers (Rawngbawltu), and 1 Senior Elder (Senior Upa).
