About MUALCHENG SOUTH LOCAL
Origin and Establishment of the Church
In March 1952, the Mizoram Baptist Church dedicated a new church building. To attend this event, revivalists Elder Rochhunga and four companions arrived in Mualcheng 'S' from Theiriat. These revivalists were accompanied by Pu Lalsanga (Chief of Mualcheng 'S'), Pu Lianbuka, Pu Thangvela, Pi Saidii, Pu Zakiana, Pu Taikhuma, and several others. However, as support for the revival movement grew, the Baptist Church leadership grew disapproving, giving rise to a group favoring the revival movement ("Hlimna") within Baptist families. The movement continued to spread to other villages, and revivalists frequently visited Mualcheng 'S'.
Chuaudenga, a charismatic believer though not an ordained minister, arrived from Ralvawng village. At the time, Pu Lalsanga was a recognized Baptist minister and granted Chuaudenga a opportunity to speak (as it was customary then to allow non-ministers to occupy the pulpit). However, his fellow ministers disapproved of this action. Consequently, a meeting was held at the residence of Pu Sainghina, resulting in intense arguments among the ministers, eventually leading to Pu Lalsanga's suspension from his ministerial duties.
Aware of the presence of revival seekers in Mualcheng 'S', Pu Senbuanga, Robuanga, and Pi Sapmawii arrived from Theiriat near Christmas in 1955. After staying for some time, Pu Lalsanga received the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues. Later, after Pu Lalsanga returned from a trip to Theiriat on important matters, the Baptist Church Committee convened to deliberate on his glossolalia (speaking in tongues). Rather than renouncing his gift of speaking in tongues, Pu Lalsanga chose to step down from ministry in the Baptist Church. Going beyond accepting his resignation from ministry, the Baptist Church officially excommunicated him.
Initial participants of the separate fellowship services were:
1) Lalsanga 2) Khualchhawni 3) Lianbuka 4) Taikhuma
5) Hrangfami 6) Lalhnuaii 7) Padara 8) Zakiana.
Together with revival believers and those who sympathized with him, Pu Lalsanga began holding separate worship services at his residence. In early 1956, UPC Pastor Lalthima visited and baptized them in the name of Jesus. Rather than organizing a formal church immediately, Pu Lianbuka was appointed as the primary leader. Later that year, on October 12, 1956, Pastor Lalthianghlima arrived and formally organized the congregation, officially establishing the Mualcheng 'S' UPC Church on October 12, 1956.

Establishment, Leadership, and Section Headquarters Status
Following the firm establishment of the local church in Mualcheng 'S', the administrative unit was designated as the 'Mualcheng ‘S’' Section (Bial) in 1958. The first Sectional Pastor was Pastor Zahlira from Khuanghlum village. The church progressed smoothly; however, Pastor Zahlira unexpectedly passed away. To succeed him, Pastor J. Laltluanga from Thangte was stationed in Mualcheng 'S' Section. Under his leadership, the gospel message expanded rapidly, resulting in swift numerical growth. In 1963, Pastor Raltianga from Tarpho was stationed here, followed by Pastor Chuauruma in 1966. In 1977, the section's name was officially changed from Mualcheng 'S' Section to 'Tawipui Section'. The section carried the name Mualcheng South for a period of 19 years.

Church Buildings and Construction History
Following the establishment of the church in 1956 with a substantial membership, the first Mualcheng 'S' UPC church building was constructed in 1957 using woven bamboo walls (Maurap). In 1956 (subsequent structure phase), a second building was constructed using wild thatched grass (Vai Di). In 1969, due to village grouping, residents were relocated to Tawipui, where a church building was immediately constructed. In 1972, the villagers returned from Tawipui to Mualcheng, and in 1973, another church building with thatched roofing was constructed.
In 1994, an Assam-type church building was constructed. Construction of the current concrete sanctuary, built enclosing the previous structure, commenced in 2008. After 10 years of construction work, it was officially dedicated on October 20, 2018, by Rev. C. Lalrintluanga, District Treasurer.
