HISTORY OF PUKPUI SECTION

Division of the Section: On March 21, 1985, the District Conference passed a resolution to divide the Lunglei North Section into two separate sections. Rev. P. Rodawla was appointed to minister the newly created 'Bazar Section' (prior to being named Pukpui Section). The other section was named 'Rahsiveng Section', where the Pastor was existingly located.

Pastor Quarters: Due to better site convenience, a location for the Pastor Quarters was found in Pukpui. In 1986, the Section Centre was shifted to Pukpui. The Section purchased the Quarters plot for Rs. 2,500. Meanwhile, Elder R. Zangaia donated his land located next to the church for the Quarters site, which stands as a noteworthy and memorable act of gratitude for the church. The previously bought Quarters plot was sold, and construction of the Quarters began immediately. From this year onward, it came to be known as 'Pukpui Section'. Rev. PC. Lunghnema and his family were the first to reside in it.

The currently occupied Quarters (RCC Building) was constructed in 2002 during the tenure of Rev. C. Darkhuma. Pukpui Section has taken significant strides in upgrading the Pastor Quarters, maintaining and renovating it primarily through Section Targets.

There are 7 local churches within Pukpui Section, namely: Pukpui, Zotlang, Zohnuai, Bazar, Kikawn, College Veng, and Venglai.
